Clinton Still On the Schneid After 6-0 Loss to Kernels
|
The Clinton LumberKings had their hands full with Cedar Rapids Kernels starter César Segura, who frustrated Clinton hitters while leading Cedar Rapids to a comfortable, 6-0 win. Segura picked up the win for Cedar Rapids, going 6.2 innings. He gave up no runs on 4 hits. He now sports a record of 8-9. The slumping LumberKings have lost 6 straight.
The Kernels got a big at-bat from designated hitter Greg Penn. For the game, Penn was 1 for 5 with a home run. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. In the top of the first, with a runner on 3rd, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 7th home run of the season gave Cedar Rapids a 2-0 lead.
"Throwing strikes was the main thing," Segura said.
