The Lake County Captains manager was philosophical in the clubhouse following a shutout loss to the South Bend Cubs. The Captains were overpowered by South Bend starter Alex Bartelt, who hurled his club to victory, 10-0.
"It was just one of those games -- shake it off and do better next time," David Peralta said.
Over 9 innings, Bartelt blanked Lake County on 7 hits with no walks and 8 strikeouts.
"I kept them off balance. I could tell a lot of them were late on fastballs because they were fouling them off. Once you see that, it sets them up for other pitches," Bartelt said.
"I set them up, where if they chased one breaking ball, they were going to chase another one."
In 10 starts this season, Bartelt has gathered 4 wins while suffering 7 losses. He has pitched 67.1 innings, allowed 85 hits, struck out 62 and has a 4.01 ERA.
