With 10-5 Win, River Bandits Go to 53-48
|
Quad Cities second baseman Héctor Rivera was a significant contributor in his team's 10-5 triumph over the Cedar Rapids Kernels. He went 3-5 with a triple and 2 singles. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2 for the River Bandits. Joe Holmes was the winning pitcher. Over 5.2 innings, he allowed 5 runs on 11 hits, with no walks and 4 strikeouts. By defeating Cedar Rapids, the 4th-place River Bandits improved to 53-48.
Quad Cities grabbed the momentum in the bottom of the fifth, when Rivera hit a 2-run triple off Dave Gardner. His 6th triple of the season put the River Bandits out in front, 7-5.
"We swung the bats good throughout the lineup," said Quad Cities skipper Takanobu Sato.
