Peoria wasted an exceptional performance by pitcher Pete Purser, falling to the Burlington Bees, 5-4. Purser threw 7.2 innings of 5-hit ball for the losing team. The save was credited to Juan Silva, his 8th. The Bees saw their win-loss record go to 59-42. At the same time, the Chiefs fell to 58-43.

Nate Willis came through with a big-time hit for Burlington. The pinch hitter smacked a grand slam home run in the top of the ninth inning to give his team the lead, 5-4. It was his only hit, but it was clutch.

"We ground out the win," said Willis. "That's all that matters."
