The Akron RubberDucks eked out a 2-1 win versus the Binghamton Mets at Canal Park. Nobody did more than pitcher Juan D. Nunez. He was terrific. Henry Owens, now 1-0, was credited with the win in 3 innings of relief. He allowed no runs on 3 hits, while striking out 3 and walking 0. Akron goes to 10-6.
The RubberDucks got a clutch hit from first baseman António Becerra. In the bottom of the 12th, he delivered a run-scoring single to win the game for the RubberDucks.
"Not to be Captain Obvious," said Binghamton manager Lee Tinsley, "but we need to push more runs across the plate."
