The Clinton LumberKings picked up a win at Alliant Energy Field, downing the Dayton Dragons, 6-2. On the mound for Clinton was right-hander Billy Burgess, who played a pivotal role in the win. Burgess yielded 2 runs over 8 innings to notch the win. He scattered 8 hits, walked 1, and struck out 9. His record improves to 1-2. Iván Diéguez earned his 9th save in 14 chances.
The LumberKings got a big at-bat from designated hitter Eric Thomas. For the game, Thomas was 1 for 4 with a home run. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. In the bottom of the third, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a 3-run home run. His 1st home run of the season gave Clinton a 3-0 lead.
