Spirited fans greeted the Lake County Captains for their clash with the Bowling Green Hot Rods.

The Bowling Green Hot Rods defeated the Lake County Captains, 8-4. Second Baseman Alex Baker deserved a large share of the credit. Baker went 2-4 with a double, while scoring 2 times and driving in 2 for the Hot Rods. Jake Canavan got the win, improving to 6-8. He pitched 7 innings, giving up 9 hits and 4 runs, while striking out 3 and walking 0. Felipe Melle earned his 18th save in 20 chances.

Bowling Green catcher Ed Hawkins contributed a timely at-bat in the top of the sixth. With two down, he hit a cutter to center field for a run-scoring single. It was his 23rd hit of the season and put the Hot Rods ahead, 6-4.

"We came out aggressive," said Hot Rods manager James Hoyt. "We came out swinging the bats."

The win elevated the Hot Rods to 44-43.
