Nationals Come Back Late to Top White Sox, 11-5
Kevin Cardny did all he could to help his team win. In the end, though, it wasn't enough to keep the Chicago White Sox from being beaten, 11-5, to the Washington Nationals at Rate Field. Cardny went 3 for 3 with a home run and 2 singles. He scored 2 times. Ken Giles snagged the win in relief. The right-hander allowed 1 run on 2 hits over 1.1 innings. He's now 1-0 on the season. Washington used the clutch hitting of Jeremy Austin to capture the win. The left fielder drilled a bases-clearing double in the top of the eighth inning to give the Nationals the lead, 9-5. For the game, Austin had 1 single and 1 double in 5 at-bats.
