The Bowling Green Hot Rods beat the Lake County Captains, 6-1, at Bowling Green Ballpark. Starting pitcher Steve Brown was a big reason why. He held his opponent in check all game. Brown picked up the win for Bowling Green, going 6.1 innings. He gave up 1 run on 4 hits. He now sports a record of 3-1. With the win, Bowling Green raised its record to 46-37.

Bowling Green center fielder José Franco contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the fourth. With two down, he hit a fastball to right field for a run-scoring single. It was his 33rd hit of the season and put the Hot Rods ahead, 1-0.

"If you pitch well, you give yourself some opportunities," said Bowling Green manager James Hoyt.
