The Lake County Captains knocked off the Dayton Dragons, 4-2, in Midwest League action at Fifth Third Field. Lake County pitcher and Azua, Dominican Republic, native Jesús Gómez had an outstanding performance. The winner in relief was Ron Lyons. The right-hander allowed no runs on no hits in 2 innings. He now owns a record of 7-2. With the victory, the Captains upped their record to 44-36.

Mario Gil had a direct impact on the outcome. Gil contributed a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the top of the ninth inning to put Lake County up, 3-2.
