West Michigan 50-24 After 3-2 Win Over Lansing
The home crowd came to cheer on their first-place West Michigan Whitecaps.

The West Michigan Whitecaps earned a close win over the Lansing Lugnuts, thanks in part to Mike Jensen. The West Michigan right-hander played a key role in the 3-2 victory. Jensen yielded 2 runs over 6.1 innings to notch the win. He scattered 10 hits, walked 3, and struck out 5. His record improves to 5-5. Chris Whittemore was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 18 of 24 save opportunities.

With scoring opportunities rare, the Whitecaps had to cash in when they had the chance. One such opportunity presented itself in the bottom of the second, when third baseman Tim Scott hit a run-scoring single. The single came off Ken Jenkins and made the score 2-0, Whitecaps. Scott went 1 for 4.

"This was a tough loss," said Lansing manager Edgar Varela. "It'll stick in my craw for a while."

The Whitecaps have an impressive 50-24 record.
