Nationals Victors, 4-1, at Chicago
|
The Washington Nationals downed the Chicago White Sox, 4-1, at Rate Field. Stellar pitching by Jose Berrios had a lot to do with it. The right-hander handcuffed his opponent all game. In 5.2 innings, Berrios surrendered 7 hits, while striking out 5 and walking 1. He allowed 1 run. Dominic Bingham locked down his 9th save.
Who knows how it might've ended, had it not been for Lucius Fox Jr.? The Washington shortstop had a 2-run double in the top of the second inning to put the Nationals on top, 2-1. For the game, Fox Jr. had 1 double and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
"It's fun coming to the ballpark," said Berrios, "when you're on this kind of roll."
With their winning streak at 9, the Nationals have raced to a strong start this season.
