Great Lakes Gets Another L
South Bend registered a win at Stanley Coveleski Regional Stadium by beating the Great Lakes Loons, 4-1. Pitcher Artie Maddox was one reason why the Cubs triumphed. Randy Nelson picked up his 14th save of the season. South Bend is now 36-31. Great Lakes is 28-39.

Robinson Paz chipped in a run-scoring single for South Bend in the bottom of the fourth. For the game, the left fielder had 2 hits in 4 at-bats with 1 home run, 1 single, 1 run scored, and 2 runs batted in.

"If you pitch well, you give yourself some opportunities," said South Bend manager Mike Brumley.
