Maddox Deals Fort Wayne 2-1 Setback
The South Bend Cubs beat the Fort Wayne TinCaps, 2-1, at Parkview Field. Starting pitcher Artie Maddox was a big reason why. He held his opponent in check all game. Randy Nelson picked up the save for South Bend, his 13th of the year. South Bend now has a record of 33-30 with the win.

Maddox gave South Bend a solid start. The left-hander, who is listed at 6' 3" , 175 lbs, allowed no runs on 4 hits over 7 innings.

"That's us at our best," Maddox told the South Bend Gazette. "Pitching and trying to prevent runs."
