River Bandits Beat Burlington, 4-3
|
The Quad Cities River Bandits beat the Burlington Bees, 4-3, in part because of shortstop Mike Muñóz. He went 3-3 with a home run, a triple, and a walk, while scoring 2 times and driving in 2. Mike Price notched the win in relief. The left-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit in 2 innings. His record now sits at 8-4. By defeating Burlington, the 5th-place River Bandits improved to 29-33.
The game was still up for grabs in the bottom of the ninth. With no one out, Muñóz hit a curveball from Cipriano Sosa for a solo home run. The River Bandits, in dramatic fashion, had a walk-off win.
"Good pitching, clutch hitting," said Quad Cities skipper Takanobu Sato. "I can't complain."
