The Lake County Captains grabbed a win, 7-6, over the Lansing Lugnuts at Cooley Law School Stadium. Lake County right fielder Lou Weber went 3 for 5 with 2 home runs. He drove in 3 runs and scored twice. Reliever Andy Rivers picked up the win. His record improves to 1-0. Jim Barber took the loss. Earning his 2nd save of the year was Kevin Dudley.

Jesús Hernández, who is tied for 9th in the MID in doubles with 18, helped out the Lake County cause in the top of the ninth inning with a 2-run double. For the game, the third baseman was 3 for 5 with a double and 2 singles. He drove in 2 runs and scored once.

"We had the game right there for the taking," said Lansing manager Edgar Varela. "But we decided not to take it."

The victory gives Lake County a record of 37-25.
