Lugnuts Deal Hot Rods 7-3 Loss
The Lansing Lugnuts beat the Bowling Green Hot Rods by a score of 7-3. Lansing second baseman Jody Johns deserved the lion's share of the credit. Johns was 3-5 with a home run, 2 singles, and was hit by a pitch, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once for the Lugnuts. Lansing reliever Buddy Paige got the win, raising his record to 4-3. Felipe Melle was tagged with the loss. The 5th-place Hot Rods have lost 4 consecutive games.

Lansing used the timely hitting of Steve Eldridge to seize the win. The center fielder stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the tenth inning to put the Lugnuts on top, 4-3. It was his only hit in 2 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.

"This ballgame left me feeling kind of raw," said Bowling Green manager James Hoyt.
