The home crowd had a good time watching the Detroit Tigers and Cincinnati Reds get after it.

The Cincinnati Reds picked up a win at Great American Ball Park, knocking off the Detroit Tigers, 8-4. On the mound for Cincinnati was left-hander Chris Sale. He played a key role in the triumph. Sale, now 1-2, was the winner. In 6 innings, he gave up 5 hits, while striking out 5, walking 3, and allowing 3 runs.

The Reds benefited from a costly error in the bottom of the first. With Dana Jones at bat and Cincinnati leading 2-1, the Detroit miscue allowed Cincinnati to plate 2 and take the lead, 4-1.

"We were able to get some things going offensively," said Jones.

Detroit falls to 14-13.
