Dayton wasted an exceptional performance by pitcher António Lara, falling to the South Bend Cubs, 6-4. Lara threw 7.0 innings of shutout ball for the losing team. South Bend now sits at 25-32, while Dayton falls to 28-29.

One big at-bat came with a runner on 1st in the top of the ninth inning. Yu-wei Liu hit a double off Dayton pitcher R.J. White. The Cubs went on to win the game.

In comments to the South Bend Gazette, Liu admitted he's been told to improve his work habits. "But," he said, "I know when to take it to another gear."
