River Bandits Lose at Home, 7-1
The Peoria Chiefs topped the Quad Cities River Bandits, 7-1, at Modern Woodmen Park. Peoria first baseman Jorge Deorta was a spark plug for the offense. He was 4-5 with 4 singles, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Víctor Márquez earned the win for Peoria. He lasted 5 innings, allowing no runs on 6 hits, while striking out 4. With the win, he raised his record to 2-2. Greg Baldwin locked down his 1st save.

It could have been a different outcome for Peoria, had it not been for Joey Byrd, the 19-year old catcher . Byrd contributed a 2-run home run in the top of the second inning to put Peoria up, 3-0.

"It doesn't matter if you're 10 games over .500 or 10 games under, it feels good to win," Deorta told the Peoria Citizen.
