Martin, Cubs March to 8-3 Victory
The South Bend Cubs licked the Fort Wayne TinCaps, 8-3. Danny Martin deserved a big chunk of the credit. The catcher was 4 for 4 with a home run, a double, and 2 singles. He scored 3 runs for the Cubs. Artie Maddox got credit for the win, improving to 2-4. He allowed 3 runs on 7 hits in 5.1 innings. The Cubs now have a record of 27-24 with the win over Fort Wayne.

Manolo Ríos had a big 2-run double for the Cubs in the bottom of the second inning. With South Bend leading 3-2 and the bases loaded, he got a changeup from 23-year old right-handed pitcher Eppe Akerval and swatted a double to left. It was his 16th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Cubs ahead, 5-2.

"It's always great to put the barrel on the ball and contribute," said Martin.
