Cedar Rapids Slaps 3-2 Loss on Kane County
|
The Cedar Rapids Kernels picked up a win at Veterans Memorial Stadium, knocking off the Kane County Cougars, 3-2. On the mound for Cedar Rapids was right-hander Jesús Vargas. He played a key role in the triumph. Vargas picked up the win for Cedar Rapids, going 6 innings. He gave up 1 run on 4 hits. He now sports a record of 4-3. With the win, Cedar Rapids raised its record to 28-20.
The Kernels got a big hit from designated hitter Manny Ramírez. Facing Kane County pitcher Tom Schmitt in the bottom of the fifth, Ramírez pounded a run-scoring double to left-center. His 13th double of the season put the Kernels ahead, 3-1.
