Getting a good performance from first baseman Mike Nicholas, the Lansing Lugnuts defeated the Fort Wayne TinCaps, 4-2. Nicholas went 2 for 3 with a home run, a double, and a walk. He drove in 3 runs and scored once for the Lugnuts. The winning pitcher was 21-year old right-handed pitcher Ignacio Benítez. He tossed 119 pitches over 7 innings, allowing 2 runs on 5 hits. Nicholas had a game-changing double in the bottom of the seventh. On a 0-1 slider from Ben Dundee, he banged a run-scoring double to left-center, giving the Lugnuts a 3-2 lead. It was the 6th double of the year for Nicholas.

"We're in a little funk right now and we've just got to get ourselves out of it," said Fort Wayne manager Yunir Garcia.
