Kane County beat Burlington at Philip B. Elfstrom Stadium, escaping with a 4-3 win. The win in large part was due to second baseman Jesús Martínez. He went 3 for 4 with 3 singles. He drove in 2 runs. The win was credited to Steve Kelly in relief. His record improves to 1-0. Juan Romano took the loss. The win elevated the Cougars to 22-18.

In the bottom of the ninth, with no one out and the game tied, 3-3, 22-year old left-handed pitcher Conan Thomas won it for Kane County. With runners on 2nd and 3rd, Thomas hit a full count slider from Juan Romano for a run-scoring single, giving his team the 4-3 win.

"This place was rocking at the end," Martínez said.
