Kernels Take Nail-Biter Over Cubs
The Cedar Rapids Kernels faced a tough opponent in South Bend pitcher Ed Green, but still scratched out a win at Veterans Memorial Stadium by a final score of 6-5 in 10 innings. Green went 5 innings and allowed no runs. Cedar Rapids reliever Josh Peterson picked up the win, upping his record to 4-0. Artie Maddox took the loss. This win makes it 5 in a row for Cedar Rapids.

The Kernels got a clutch hit from designated hitter Bob Hill. In the bottom of the tenth, he hit a run-scoring single to center, to win the game for the Kernels.

"I believe in our guys," said Cedar Rapids skipper Bobby Chouinard. "I like the energy they're playing with."
