Chiefs Lose to Lugnuts, 9-5
The Lansing Lugnuts defeated the Peoria Chiefs, 9-5. Catcher Ed Boatman deserved a large share of the credit. Boatman went 4 for 4 with a double, 3 singles, and a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once for the Lugnuts. The defeat makes Peoria 16-16.

Lansing third baseman Kevin Lewis contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the sixth. With two down, he hit a curveball to left-center field for a 2-run single. It was his 29th hit of the season and put the Lugnuts ahead, 9-5.

"Winning never gets dull," said Boatman.
