Captains Get Past Kane County for 3-2 Win
The Lake County Captains welcomed the Kane County Cougars to an night game at Classic Park.

The Kane County Cougars were defeated, 3-2, by the Lake County Captains at Classic Park, even though Sergio Bernard pitched well for Kane County. Walt Scott picked up the win in relief, improving his record to 1-0. Sergio Bernard was tagged with the loss.

The Captains beat the Cougars in part due to timely hitting. Case in point: the two-out single Chris Kimsey produced in the bottom of the eighth. Batting against Mike Wright, Kimsey gave his team the lead, 3-2, when he hit a run-scoring single.

"This was a tough loss," said Kane County manager . "It'll stick in my craw for a while."

The win lifted the Lake County record to 17-12.
