Lansing Loss Tarnishes Fine Game by Jones
Despite a fine performance by left fielder Alan Jones, the Lansing Lugnuts lost to the Burlington Bees, 11-8. Jones went 4 for 5 with a home run, a double, and 2 singles, while scoring 3 and driving in 3. The win was credited to 22-year old right-handed pitcher Jesús Mejía in relief. His record improves to 2-0. Buddy Paige took the loss. The loss drops Lansing to 11-16.

Burlington used the timely hitting of Jesús Cabrera to capture the win. The shortstop stroked a 2-run double in the top of the ninth inning to put the Bees on top, 10-7. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but he made it count.

"I'm just looking to see the ball, hit the ball," said Cabrera.
