The rain came, as predicted, but the South Bend Cubs and Lake County Captains were able to complete their ballgame.

In a low-scoring affair between the South Bend Cubs and the Lake County Captains, pitcher José Maréz was the difference between victory and defeat. The South Bend right-hander earned kudos in the 3-2 Cubs win. Lake County is now 13-11.

Making an impact for South Bend was second baseman Zach Kennedy. He drilled a double off Mike Fletcher in the bottom of the fifth. For the game, Kennedy was 1-3 with a double.

"This was a tough loss," said Lake County manager David Peralta. "It'll stick in my craw for a while."
