Jesús Vargas was nothing short of phenomenal for the Cedar Rapids Kernels. The 21-year-old right-hander was a big reason his team beat the Quad Cities River Bandits, 6-1. Vargas picked up the win for Cedar Rapids, going 5 innings. He gave up 1 run on 5 hits. He now sports a record of 3-1. Quad Cities is 9-14 after the defeat.

Third Baseman Vic Rosa made an impact for Cedar Rapids, when he swatted a run-scoring double off Juan Saucedo in the bottom of the fourth. For the contest, Rosa was 1 for 3 with a double and was hit by a pitch, while scoring 2 times.
