The Cedar Rapids Kernels beat the Quad Cities River Bandits, 4-3, at Veterans Memorial Stadium. Rob Georgeson, in particular, was impressive. He was 4 for 5 with a home run and 3 singles, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Cedar Rapids reliever Raúl Manuel picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Bob Barraclough was saddled with the loss. The win has Cedar Rapids at 13-9.

Pete Anderson was the walk-off hero for Cedar Rapids. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Kernels catcher hit a dramatic run-scoring single to send the teams home.
