Whitecaps Fall, 8-3, to Chitty, TinCaps
The Fort Wayne TinCaps beat the West Michigan Whitecaps, 8-3, at Fifth Third Ballpark. The TinCaps got a fine performance from right fielder Charlie Chitty, who was 3-4 with a triple, a double, and a walk, while scoring 3 and driving in 2. Ben Dundee was the winner. Over 5.2 innings, he yielded 1 run on 4 hits, with 3 walks and 3 strikeouts. Albert Santístevan nailed down the save.

With Fort Wayne leading 3-0 in the top of the fourth, Chitty hit a changeup from Joe Gibbs for a 2-run triple. It was his 2nd triple of the season and put the TinCaps ahead, 5-0.

"We played hard and won," said Chitty. "Sometimes, baseball really is that easy.'

The TinCaps, with just their 4th win so far in 2026, have yet to catch fire.
