The performance of Christian Nygård proved critical in helping Fort Wayne beat West Michigan, 8-6. The TinCaps second baseman went 2 for 4 with a home run and was hit by a pitch, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 3. The win was credited to 27-year old left-handed pitcher Juan Santos in relief. His record improves to 1-1. Chris Whittemore took the loss. José Vásquez stitched up the save, his 2nd.

Who knows how it might've ended, had it not been for Zander Revels? The Fort Wayne third baseman had a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the top of the ninth inning to put the TinCaps on top, 7-6. For the game, Revels had 1 double and 1 single in 4 at-bats.

"Glad to go home with a win," said Revels.

With the loss, West Michigan is 12-7.
