Wayland Delivers Walk-Off Win for Loons
|
In a low-scoring tilt between the Great Lakes Loons and the Lake County Captains, 23-year old left-handed pitcher Bob Marín was the difference-maker. The Great Lakes left-hander spearheaded the 2-1 win. Great Lakes reliever Víctor Guzmán picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Dylan Fairchild absorbed the loss. The loss drops the Captains to 11-5.
The Loons got a clutch hit from first baseman Conan Wayland. In the bottom of the 13th, he hit a run-scoring single to right-center, to win the game for the Loons.
"Baseball is such a beautiful game," said Wayland. "Anything can happen on any night, and that's why you don't dwell on what happened yesterday. Just look forward and trust you're going to have positive results."
