The timely hitting of Loren Allen helped the Lansing Lugnuts down the South Bend Cubs, 6-4. Allen was 1 for 2 with a home run and 3 walks for the Lugnuts. Jim Barber picked up the win in relief. His record improves to 1-0. Mike Tillman suffered the loss. The save went to Dorian Abbott, his 1st this season.

Lansing used a timely hit from Jerry Vance to get the win. The first baseman stroked a 2-run double in the top of the seventh inning to put the Lugnuts ahead, 5-3. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it made an impact.

Lansing manager Corey Ragsdale praised his team's "energy."

The win gives Lansing a record of 9-7.
