River Bandits Losing Streak at 5 After Extra-Inning Loss to Bees
The Quad Cities River Bandits could not turn a fine performance from pitcher Walt Quick into a win. Instead, the Burlington Bees prevailed, 3-2, in 10 innings. Quick threw 8.0 innings of shutout ball. Burlington reliever Juan Romano was the winner. His record is now 1-1. The losing pitcher was Mike Price. The River Bandits, now 2-12, continue their slow start.

The Bees got a clutch hit from third baseman Claude Palma. In the bottom of the tenth, he delivered a run-scoring single to win the game for the Bees.

"We had a hellacious effort," said Bees manager Danny Valencia. "We hung in there and hung in there."
