José Marte pitched well, but the Burlington Bees still fell short, losing, 4-1, to the Peoria Chiefs at Community Field. The win puts Peoria at 7-5.
Peoria used a well-timed hit by Chad Hughes to capture the win. The shortstop socked a bases-clearing double in the top of the second inning to put the Chiefs ahead, 4-0. Though it was his only hit in 5 at-bats, it was important.
"You need to show up when your number's called," said Hughes.
