The Lansing Lugnuts eked out a 2-1 win versus the Dayton Dragons at Fifth Third Field. Nobody did more than pitcher Ignacio Benítez. He was terrific. Benítez picked up the win for Lansing, going 8 innings. He gave up 1 run on 7 hits. He now sports a record of 2-1. The loss drops the Dayton record to a disappointing 4-7.

Doug Baldwin came through with a big-time hit for Lansing. The right fielder smacked a solo home run in the top of the seventh inning to give his team the lead, 2-1. It was his only hit, but it was clutch.

"We came out on the wrong end of this one," said Dayton skipper Manny Amador.
