Thrilling Victory Pushes Captains Win Streak to 6

The Captains grabbed a win, 4-1, at Classic Park, overcoming a fine effort from Dayton pitcher António Lara. Lara went 5.2 innings and allowed 1 run. Lake County reliever Jorge Castillo was the winner. His record is now 1-0. Ethan MacNeill took the loss. The Captains, now 8-3, have been playing some good baseball.
The game was at a stalemate until designated hitter Chris Kimsey came to bat in the bottom of the eighth. Facing Dayton pitcher Ethan MacNeill, he hit a first pitch fastball for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Lake County on top, 2-1.
"The bar for us is not a particular opponent, it's ourselves," said Lake County manager David Peralta.
