Kernels Rack Up 2-0 Win Versus Burlington
|
Stu Turner never let Burlington get something going. The Cedar Rapids left-hander commanded his splitter in pitching the Kernels to a 2-0 win. Josh Peterson stitched up the save, his 2nd. The loss drops Burlington to 4-5.
With scoring opportunities rare, the Kernels had to cash in when they had the chance. One such opportunity presented itself in the bottom of the third, when left fielder Eddie Woods hit a run-scoring single. The single came off Ed Anderson and made the score 2-0, Kernels. Woods was 1 for 4.
"I had pretty good command out there," said Turner.
