Despite a great performance by South Bend center fielder Phil Lind, the Dayton Dragons defeated the Cubs by the score of 8-7 at Fifth Third Field. Lind slugged 2 home runs, while adding 4 RBI and scoring twice. The loss has the Cubs at 3-5.

The Dragons got a clutch hit from first baseman Hank Howell. In the bottom of the tenth, he hit a run-scoring single to left-center, to win the game for the Dragons.

Howell told a Dayton Daily News reporter that he felt "euphoric" after the win.
