Whitecaps Even With Kernels After Home Win
|
The West Michigan Whitecaps defeated the Cedar Rapids Kernels, 7-5, in Game 2 of the Round 2. Making an impact was first baseman Joe Jacobs, who went 3-4 with 3 doubles and was hit by a pitch. He scored 2 runs. The win moves West Michigan into a 1-1 tie with Cedar Rapids in the series.
West Michigan center fielder Jeff Young helped the Whitecaps go up, 6-5, in the bottom of the sixth inning. With the game tied, Young hit a run-scoring single off Cedar Rapids pitcher Kurt Brown.
"I just tried to make good contact," said Jacobs.
The next game is set to be played for Friday, September 18th , 2026 at Veterans Memorial Stadium in Cedar Rapids.
