Lakeland and Fort Myers took Mother Nature's best shot and still managed to complete their ballgame.
The Lakeland Flying Tigers beat the Fort Myers Miracle, 4-1. Lakeland pitcher and Granite Bay, California, native Eric Jackson led the way. Jackson, now 9-9, was the winner. In 5 innings, he gave up 5 hits, while striking out 2, walking 0, and allowing 1 run.
Catcher Juan Ortega made an impact for Lakeland, when he swatted a run-scoring double off César Barbosa in the top of the second. For the contest, Ortega was 2-3 with a double.
"The effort we put into this one paid off," Ortega said.
With the win, Lakeland pushed its record to 83-45.
