The home team gave the crowd at Joker Marchant Stadium something to cheer about.
Tampa had no answer for Lakeland Flying Tigers starter Albert Ramírez, who flummoxed Yankees hitters as the Flying Tigers cruised to victory, 8-1. Ramírez, now 9-7, was the winner. In 6.2 innings, he gave up 4 hits, while striking out 7, walking 0, and allowing no runs.
Early in the game, third baseman António Javier had a 3-run home run for Lakeland. It was his 5th home run of the season and put the Flying Tigers on top, 3-0.
"They just got us," said Tampa manager Eric Owens, "and that's all I can say."
