Charlotte left fielder José González had a good game in a losing cause. His team fell, 10-8, to Brevard County at Charlotte Sports Park. González went 3 for 3 with a double, 2 singles, and 2 walks. He scored 2 runs. Dan McCurley was credited with the save, his 16th in 17 tries. The Manatees now have a record of 52-66 with the win over Charlotte.

Brevard County used the clutch hitting of Ron Maxwell to capture the win. The catcher drilled a bases-clearing double in the top of the ninth inning to give the Manatees the lead, 10-8. For the game, Maxwell had 1 single and 2 doubles in 4 at-bats.

Brevard County manager Allen Craig was pleased with the team's effort. "Our guys went out there and put good wood on the ball," he said.
