Threshers Earn 5-4 Home Win
The Brevard County Manatees could not turn a fine performance from pitcher Rodriguo Zegri into a win. Instead, the Clearwater Threshers prevailed, 5-4. Zegri came in in relief and pitched to 19 batters. Clearwater pitcher Steve Ives got the win. He's now 7-8. Pete Williams was tagged with the loss. Daniel Brunt earned his 22nd save in 23 chances.

Walt Blair had a big 2-run double for the Threshers in the bottom of the third inning. With Clearwater leading 2-1 and the bases loaded, he got a fastball from 21-year old right-handed pitcher Pete Williams and swatted a double to center. It was his 22nd double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Threshers ahead, 4-1.

"We ground out the win," said Blair. "That's all that matters."

The Threshers improved their record to 49-58 by beating Brevard County.
