The Lakeland Flying Tigers took Dunedin pitcher Chris Hughes's best shot and still were able to claim a win at Joker Marchant Stadium. The final score had Lakeland getting past the Blue Jays, 2-1. Hughes went 6 innings and allowed 2 runs, striking out 2. Reliever Juan Barrera picked up the win. His record improves to 3-2. Chris Hughes took the loss. The victory gives the Flying Tigers a record of 67-33.

With scoring opportunities rare, the Flying Tigers had to cash in when they had the chance. One such opportunity presented itself in the bottom of the fifth, when right fielder Tomás Quintana hit a run-scoring single. The single came off Chris Hughes and made the score 2-0, Flying Tigers. Quintana was 1 for 3 with a hit by pitch.

"Not everyone likes pitching duels," said Quintana. "But I do."
