The umbrellas came out during the Lakeland-St. Lucie contest at Tradition Field.

Lakeland Flying Tigers starter Jeff Smith found his groove in his team's 6-3 win over the St. Lucie Mets. The winning pitcher was Smith, now 2-0. He tossed 7.1 innings of 4-hit ball, while walking 4 and fanning 4. José Cervantes notched his 28th save in 33 chances.

Lakeland took a 3-1 lead on Cisco Ortíz's 27th double of the season. The 2-run double, which Ortíz hit in the top of the eighth, left St. Lucie pitcher Luis Lucero visibly frustrated.

Ortíz attributed the win to "a well-rounded effort by the whole team."

St. Lucie now owns a losing streak of 7 games.
