The home team gave the crowd at Bright House Field something to cheer about.
Clearwater parlayed a decent outing from starter Sigfrid Naegeli into a solid win over the Daytona Tortugas. The final score was 5-4. The loss makes Daytona 49-42.
Raúl Alonso was 1 for 3 with a double and was hit by a pitch for Clearwater. With one out and the game tied in the bottom of the seventh inning, Alonso, who is tied for 6th in the FSL in stolen bases with 18, had a clutch at-bat. Facing Daytona hurler Steve Adams, he got hit by a pitch, driving in 1 run to give the Threshers a 5-4 lead.
After the game, Clearwater manager Hector Santiago applauded the team's effort. "We put some good AB's together," he said.
