The Charlotte Stone Crabs used the hitting of designated hitter Ben Young to subdue the Fort Myers Miracle, 7-6. For the game, Young was 1 for 3 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. The winning pitcher was Kevin Anderson. He's now 4-6. He went 6.2 innings, allowing 3 runs on 9 hits for the Stone Crabs. Cliff Apsley notched his 18th save in 21 chances.
With Charlotte leading 4-1 in the top of the fifth, Young hit a cutter from Curt Warren for a 3-run home run. It was his 5th home run of the season and put the Stone Crabs ahead, 7-1.
"We had the game right there for the taking," said Fort Myers manager Tony Thomas. "But we decided not to take it."
Today's win puts Charlotte at 30-34, while Fort Myers falls to 29-35.
